Kindergarten the good the bad and the ugly!

It has taken me 3 months to finally get a Kindergarten post up! I had high hopes for the first day of Kindergarten, after all D and L spent 3 years at BUMPS preparing for this very day!

One of the great things about having twins is that you just never know who is going to melt down, love it or just jump for joy at the sight of the adventure. Well the first day of Kindergarten was just that!

Here is a picture of David about to leave for the first day...

Here is Lauren....

So far so good right? Stay tuned for more on the First Day of Kindergarten!

I have so much to post and not enough time to post it!

Hello friends! Sorry I have been out of the blogging world for a few months! So much has happened...

Here are some highlights...

Look Mom no training Wheels!

Lauren wanted to try her bike without her training wheels. So we went outside put the helmet on and tried a few times, she did pretty good. Then..... she busted... I worried that she might want to put the training wheels back on. She said she would try again tomorrow! (I was beaming with pride)

The next day... Off she went down the side walk with just a little push! She was so excited! We were too! So we told her to go to the cove and practice turning! She did it! Then she went again and........ she busted! AHHHHHHHHH Benjamin and I stood there and debated on what to do, should we run, should we ignore, should we cheer, should we yell... so many choices and then.... she stood up and screamed! We ran! Blood everywhere. Hmmmmmmmmmm So 3 days later I said, "Hey let's go try that bike again". "Sure", so up she went and there she goes. Ridding like a champ. It reminded me of the time I fell of my horse. I layed there in the dirt as he ran off and left me there. I was told I had to get back on. I really didn't want to, but I did. The fall hurt really bad. I was so mad, I was embarrased but I knew I had to get back on I did and the ride was sooooooo much better! I really miss my horse days! Maybe I could talk B into getting us a pony for Christmas!

So, We went to see the Globe Trotters and all we cared about were the stinkin NACHO's.

I try really hard to do things with both David and Lauren on an individual basis. I plan things that I know they would really like to do. David is a tough one, he LOVES to be at home. We go out to eat and he says "Can we go home now". We leave school headed for the park. I get, "I just wanna go home, Mommy". If you have ever heard Benjamin tell the story of us going to Disney World 2 years ago then you would understand my little buddy. He is so sweet and so loving. The boy just loves his home! So, anyway... I planned a Sunday afternoon with David, Craig (his buddy) and Craig's mom Cindy. *(I too was just as excited to hang out with them)*

Our plan was set, we were going to see the Globe Trotters. What boy wouldn't want to see a bunch of silly basketball players who have been on SCOOBY DO!! We had talked about them for days. David kept calling them the "Glob" Trotters. Craig was excited to have nachos. He had been to the Fed Ex forum a few times to see a Memphis game. Well, then David was excited about the Nachos. So, we drove down town. Parked in the FedEx garage. David proudly announced... MY DADDY WORKS FOR FED EX!!
We got their a little early so they boys had a great time YELLING in the parking garage. ECHO ECHO ECHO. We went in found our way around and then..... there they were the Nachos!!!! David and Craig wanted chips and cheese. Cindy and I went for the Neely's BBQ Chicken Nachos. YUmmmmmY! After we figured out how to carry 4 nachos and 4 drinks while 2 boys were running around like monkeys. We finally made it to our seats. The boys and Mommy's were in heaven! We ate and ate and ate. We finished before the "game" even started! So, the game started and Globby was a big hit. The players not so much. David started with the typical statement of "Can we go home now?" Both boys were in Nacho coma's! They were not the least interested in the game or the silly stuff they were doing. Cindy and I kept looking at each other like OMG... this is terrible. Then, Craig said "Can we go to your house David?" We were shocked! So... we said, let's go! So, we left. We made it thru halftime. The boys were just not interested.

Here are some pictures of our "FUN" time with the boys!

My Star Students

In David and Lauren's class they have a Star Student of the Day. Each "star" get's to do all the jobs for the day,( you would not believe how big of a deal this is to a preschooler) bring their favorite snack and be the teachers special helper all day. This is a BIG DEAL!! So here are some pictures from D and L's days as Start Student! Oh, and make sure you click on the image of their biography. It's quite entertaining!

ANOTHER SNOW DAY!!

I could not believe my eyes... it just kept coming and coming! It reminded me of the time my parents took my brother and I to Keystone, CO. We went on a awesome ski trip and there was 23 inches of snow in 4 hours. By the time we got out luggage in we had to dig our way out of the cabin! It was just beautiful. We didn't get 23in but we did have 12in in our back yard. We played and played. The kids loved it. Here are some pictures for proof! LOL

Finally a SNOW DAY!

We went to bed last night hoping and praying for a snow day! Lauren could not sleep with the anticipation of hot coco by the fire and playing in the snow. David on the other had could not wait to LOOK at it from the window. I was just hoping for a day at home with nothing to do but, relax drink coffee and watch the kids play in the snow! Before we went to bed our trusty weather reporter Dave Brown said that Shelby County Schools would make the call at 4am. I knew this was not good. But, was holding out hope because everything thing around us was cancelling left and right. I knew I was not waking up at 4 to turn on the TV, so I sat my alarm for 6 and went to sleep. Morning came and Lauren woke up and said "Mommy, are we really going to school today?" I had the TV on and they were saying over and over and over again "Shelby County Schools are still in session". I just couldn't break it to her... so I said go back to sleep we will know soon. I really was praying!!! Then at 6:55 they said it...."SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED!" I ran to the couch, got a blanket my coffee and just sat! I love the quiet. Then soon the patter of little feet and two rather large feet come out of the rooms and say, WELL? It was 8. I said... LETS GO PLAY IN THE SNOW!!!! WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO

Here are some pics from our SNOW DAY!

Stop!

As I was walking the twins to class yesterday it hit me, THIS IS IT! The last time I will be "walking to kids to class" Next year they are going to Kindergarten. I won't be able to watch them thru the window. I won't be able to pick them up at the door with a hug and a smile. I won't be able to watch them play on the playground with their friends. I won't be able to be there for EVERYTHING! I am so thankful to have worked at the school for the last few years and be able to be there for EVERYTHING! What am I going to do next year? How am I going to let them get out of the car and walk themselves to class. Man, how am I going to make it when the drive themselves to school! Can't it all stop!
